Double talk 28-267
On Thursday, 1st June the Sydney design studio ignored the frosty arrival of winter as they warmly welcomed 135 guests to another successful instalment of the Double Talk Speaker Series. Always intelligent and engaging, thought provoking and entertaining along with moderators Stephen Varady and Bob nation, we continue to make it the best speaker series in Australia. This instalment, attendees heard from Dylan Brady, the director of Decibel Architecture (Melbourne) and Ingrid Richards, co- founder of Richards and Spence Architects (Brisbane). Dylan’s projects include large scale public, government and community projects, as well as small scale residential projects and art collaborations. Dylan’s experience and passion for architecture has fused an artistic spirit with practical technical knowledge. His enthusiasm and capacity for communication creates highly energetic and participatory design propositions that engage with the future and fire our imaginations, and this was apparent in his presentation with guests laughing and enthralled. Ingrid presented on all things Richards & Spence, who’s projects include retail, commercial, multi-residential and mixed-use developments with a primary focus on urban infill retail/commercial projects. The practice is intent on the creation of contextual markers and the production of public spaces within these private commissions. Richards and Spence has been critical in the ongoing development of the James Street Precinct including 19 James Street, West Elm, Brickworks Design Studio, Living Edge and the new James Street Hotel due for completion in 2018.
