Kinnaird Head Lighthouse (old)

Fraserburgh, Scotland

Built in 1787, this was the first lighthouse constructed by the Northern Lighthouse Board. Unusually, it was built into an existing castle. It was redesigned by Robert Stephenson in 1824 to house a new light. A fog signal building was added in 1902, and a radio beacon was installed in 1929. The functioning light was replaced by a new, automated light in 1991.
