Navesink Highlands Light Station, NJ

Known as the Twin Lights, it is famous for being the first U.S. lighthouse to be fitted with the revolutionary Fresnel Lens in 1841. In 1898, a large bivalve lens was installed in the south tower (pictured here) making it the most powerful light in the U.S. for many years.
