John & "Deano"
I came across John entertaining two ladies waiting for a bus and got talking to him after I had taken this shot. John’s little friend is “Deano the dinosaur”. When asked why does he carry Deano around with him John’s demeanour changed to suspicion as he sussed me out. Eventually after some defensive banter about Deano and did I not think his friend was cute? he told me he had a long history of illness and depression and has spent lots of the last few years on the streets, unable to fit in anywhere, he has one sister in England. Deano keeps him company and also he quickly found people talk to him more when he has Deano. This he said, stopped him getting into the black place. He’s hoping to stay on the wagon and stay ‘steady’ as he put it and get a corporation flat and try to get a job somewhere where lots of people work because he loves people and making them laugh. He wished me luck and said Deano did too and wandered off towards Busarus.
