Charles Edward Page was born in Fonthill, Welland County, Ontario on 19 Jan. 1895. He was the son of Edward Page. He enlisted in the 176th (Niagara Rangers) Battalion on 16 Feb. 1916. His attestation papers note his assignment to the Divisional Signal Company of the Royal Canadian Engineers. He was a member of the Church of England, 5' 10" in height with fair hair and gray eyes.
