Dating back to 1107, Traquair was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. Later a refuge for Catholic priests in times of terror the Stuarts of Traquair supported Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobite cause without counting the cost.A truly authentic Medieval Fayre that this year will celebrate the marriage and gift of the house by the Earl of Buchan to his son, James Stuart who became 1st Laird of Traquair in 1491.
A Grand Tournée will take place on the wineglass lawn in front of the house with combat displays with knights in armour, a battle of the shields and grand melée finale.
