China Zhanhe lok 174 Xing Fu - Happiness 1-12-2001 at km 67

China had many narrow gauge railways build long after WW2. Many for mining purposes and many like this by the ministry of forrestry. Zhanhe is on the main line north of Beian. It was still in 2001 a busy system with several 0-8-0s C2 type active and some diesel operation. The line was over 137 km long with a 37 km side line. Now reported closed and track lifting in progress by late 2002. I visited the line in a small group with Bernd Seiler. Temparatures were at night somewhat under -50 Celsius bud a mild -25 to -30 Celsius in mid winter sunshine. I had a film broken because I transported it to quickly.
