Common Nighthawk

Although this wasn't a life bird for me it still presented me with an irresistible photography opportunity that I couldn't pass up. This was the first time that I'd ever seen one of these unique birds perched before. I photographed this bird on a fencepost in Pawnee National Grassland in Colorado. They have no trees to perch in there so they have to settle for fence posts instead.
