Paphos Castle

Originally a medieval Byzantine fortress protecting the city port, Paphos Castle suffered destruction in the earthquake of 1222. The 13th century saw its reconstruction and expansion by the Lusignans, who also erected the "Genoese Towers", giving the castle its current form.
