Frison
Le frison (frison occidental : "Frysk Hynder" ; néerlandais : "Fries") est une race de chevaux de selle et de chevaux carrossiers originaire de la Frise, une province des Pays-Bas dont il tire son nom. Il porte toujours une robe noire, d'où son surnom, "la perle noire". Ce cheval de prestige est réellement défini lors de la constitution de son registre généalogique sous l'impulsion de l'aristocratie frisonne en 1879, dans le contexte d'une affirmation d'identité régionale. Il est ensuite menacé de disparition, en raison de l'engouement pour le cheval de trait lourd à la fin du XIXe siècle. Il retrouve la popularité à la fin du XXe siècle. Désormais utilisé à l'attelage et sous la selle, notamment en dressage, il est très apprécié pour le spectacle et le cinéma grâce à sa grande élégance, sa robe unie et son port de tête relevé.
The Friesian (West Friesian: "Frysk Hynder"; Dutch: "Fries") is a breed of saddle and carriage horses originating from Friesland, a province of the Netherlands from which it takes its name. It always wears a black coat, hence its nickname, "the black pearl". This prestigious horse was truly defined when its genealogical register was created under the impetus of the Friesian aristocracy in 1879, in the context of an affirmation of regional identity. It was then threatened with extinction, due to the craze for heavy draft horses at the end of the 19th century. It regained popularity at the end of the 20th century. Now used for driving and under saddle, particularly in dressage, it is very popular for shows and cinema thanks to its great elegance, its plain coat and its raised head carriage.
