Jean-Claude de l’Estrac, né le 17 février 1948 à Quatre-Bornes (Maurice), parlant ici au nom du Mouvement militant mauricien (MMM) dont il fut un des dirigeants de 1973 à 1994, est un écrivain, journaliste, homme d'affaires, homme politique et diplomate mauricien. Maire à trois reprises de Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, parlementaire de 1976 à 1994, il a été plusieurs fois ministre (en 1982-83 et de 1990 à 1994) avant de devenir secrétaire général de la Commission de l'océan Indien (de 2012 à 2016).
Jean-Claude de l'Estrac, born February 17, 1948 in Quatre-Bornes (Mauritius), speaking here on behalf of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM) of which he was one of the leaders from 1973 to 1994, is a writer, journalist, man Mauritian businessman, politician and diplomat. Three-time mayor of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, parliamentarian from 1976 to 1994, he was minister several times (in 1982-83 and from 1990 to 1994) before becoming secretary general of the Indian Ocean Commission (from 2012 to 2016).
