A l'époque où cette photo a été prise, Mayotte n'avait pas encore de port en eau profonde. Les navires de commerce restaient donc au large du port de Mamoudzou. Il fallait donc aller chercher leur chargement avec des bateaux plus modestes. Aujourd'hui, le 101e département français dispose d'un port de commerce digne de ce nom à Longoni.
At the time this photo was taken, Mayotte did not yet have a deepwater port. The merchant ships therefore remained off the port of Mamoudzou. It was therefore necessary to fetch their load with more modest boats. Today, the 101st French department has a commercial port worthy of the name in Longoni.
