Tuzluca salt mine
The entrance tunnel to the ancient Tuzluca salt mines in Igdir province, Turkey, is lit up with coloured lights. The rock salt layers were laid down millions of years ago and have been used for salt since the Hittite Empire, 14th C, BCE. The salt mines date to medieval times and still provide much of Turkey's salt. They are a popular site for halotherapy for people with lung conditions.
