Ripe persimmons

In the late fall and winter, Shikoku Island is dotted with bright orange persimmons (kaki), Diospyros kaki, hanging from leafless trees. Kaki originated in China and their primary domestic source is Shikoku Island where they have been grown since the 7th century. Kamiyama, Shikoku Island, Japan.
