Nel 1936, in occasione del conio dell’effigie del nuovo sovrano regnante sulle monetine in circolazione, il governo canadese modificò anche l’immagine sul retro delle monete. La scelta per il pezzo da 25 centesimi fu la testa di un caribù realizzato dall'artista Emanuel Hahn. Naturalmente la figura di questo lato della moneta negli ultimi anni è stata sostituita in occasione di importanti ricorrenze storiche con il conio di motivi inerenti alle varie celebrazioni.
