My work is the cathartic expression of working years as a Social Worker with oppressed persons trapped within the confines of a variety of intransigent settings such as prisons, jails, groups homes, treatment facilities, shelters, community mental health centers, schools, and hospitals. These transcendental experiences interwoven with my drive for social justice form the basis for much of my work. Created spontaneously without preconceived plans, my collages and paintings mimic the therapeutic interplay between therapist and paint, paint and surface, both metaphorical layers for which I find infinitely fascinating. The bright colors and textures in my work reflect the hope, joy, and light that I strive to bring into every seemingly desperate circumstance. To that end, I have created both apparel and visual artwork lines which have been featured in benefit auctions to advance homeless youth and their families, galleries, private collections: namely, RuPaul and Actress Anna Maria Horsford, retail stores, restaurants, treatment facilities, Parade of Hearts 2022, and KU Marillac Hospital.
