Artist statement: I enjoy creating art to unwind myself. I feel like a big ball of yarn that is tightly spooled when I am stressed. I find I am so focused on patients during my workday and on my family when at home, that is takes a conscious effort to not fill my free time with chores. Taking time away to do something purely for the joy of creating art feels almost indulgent. I feel my most inspired when I am outside which each of these photographs reflect. Getting outside and marveling at the beauty of nature really helps me stay in the moment. When I look at each piece, I can remember the way the air smelled (the raindrops on the peace rose petals, the salty ocean air from the pelican spot at the bait shop, the faint humid, manure smell in the sunflower field).
