Shelly Wilson "Angel Baby"
Artist: Shelly Wilson, Chaplain Resident
Medium: Clay, resin, multi media
Artist Statement: There is so much loss in the world and one of those is you, my angel baby. You were wanted, you were expected, but you ARE loved! You are gone from my arms but not my heart. You carried a piece of me with you when you left this world for the heavenly realms, my angel baby. I had so many plans as I would watch you grow and become the person you were meant to be, but now you make the plans as you wait for the day we meet again. I see hope in your life, short as it was. Now you are in eternity and I will join you there someday. But not today. Today I live with your memory and give the love meant for you to others. I know you want that. I lost you, but I have not lost hope. You left that with me, thank you.
I discovered resin art about a year ago and have enjoyed learning how to mix light and color. I see hope in those mixtures as the resin mutes some details and extenuates others. I have made many of my molds by first sculpting shapes in clay and I use the art form to process some of the hard things that happen in life and in the hospital.
