Hanging planter gold
Artist: Maria Mallick, Medical Student
Category: Watercolor
Artist Statement on the theme Transformed and Transcended:
I’m a third year in Wichita currently interested in internal medicine. I grown to love watercolor because it makes me work around and integrate my little mistakes with the paintbrush instead of cover them up! I embraced outlining with pen first because I’ve always been a planner and it’s manifested that way in my paintings.
There have been so many circumstances, both academically and socially, in the last year that have challenged our ability to adapt. I think I carried that mood into trying a new medium.
