“How do I get home? Follow the yellow brick road. Follow the yellow brick.”
Humans suddenly found themselves spending more and more time at home the spring of 2020. For some, it was a prison, an unhealthy and unsafe place. For others- a welcome reprieve and break from our busy body lives. For most- it was somewhere in the middle. We chose to stay put and minimize our contact and interactions with other humans to protect the greater good for humanity- to save lives- stop the spread. For those who struggle with anxiety, loneliness, depression- the solitude became their prison. They longed for human interactions. I turned to an addiction to cope- my knitting.
The rhythmic motions of knit and purls calmed my frazzled nerves. I chose the sweater pattern and fiber with care. The sweater pattern is “Love Note” by Tin Can Knits; and the fiber is a merino, mohair, and silk blend by fiber artist La Bien Amiee. The color, naturally, is “Yellow Brick Road.”
