Shabana Azmi is an award-winning actor, famous for her roles in Sparsh, Arth, Fire, Godmother, Honeymoon Travels, Makdee, Ankur, Nishant, Junoon, Sonata and Neerja among many, many other films. The daughter of poet Kaifi Azmi and theatre artiste Shaukat Azmi, and the wife of poet-screenwriter Javed Akhtar, she has acted in over 120 films. Her awards and honours include the Padma Shri and five National Awards for Best Actress. A Goodwill Ambassador of the UNPFA and a committed social activist, Azmi’s plays include Tumhari Amrita and Happy Birthday Sunita.
