The then city police commissioner L Revannasiddaiah was instrumental in setting up the Hoysala mobile patrolling squads in July 1997.
The name of Hoysala was given by the then chief minister J H Patel. One Hoysala per station was given in addition to a police inspector’s jeep, as a public-private-partnership initiative. The idea behind the patrolling vehicle was to reach the victim within the golden hour and provide instant relief.
