Odissi dance by Madhulita Mohapatra & Group

Odissi dance performed by Madhulita Mohapatra and group on "World Dance Day 2016" at Alliance Francaise, Bengaluru, India.

Odissi is one of the oldest classical dances of India and it originates from the state of Odisha. It is particularly distinguished from other classical Indian dance forms by the importance it places upon the Tribhangi, the independent movement of head, chest and pelvis. This dance is characterised by various Bhangas, which involves stamping of the foot and striking various postures as seen in Indian sculptures.
