View from Latrigg

This was taken on a recent trip to the Lake District. The peak Autumn colours were particularly beautiful this year but it was also a lot wetter than normal. I set out on a hike from Keswick in one such downpour, questioning my sanity at regular intervals (there are some very nice cafes in Keswick not to mention a fudge shop - perfect for a rainy day). When I got to the summit of Latrigg I could barely see more than a few feet but I did catch a glimpse of blue sky way out in the distance so I decided to stick around. Less than 15 minutes later and we had beautiful clouds, sunshine and breathtaking views. I'm glad I made the effort although it wasn't easy to photograph in the bright sunlight.

P.S. I did pop into the fudge shop on the way back - the lady who runs it convinced me of the health benefits of eating fudge and assured me that it is in fact very low in fat. I did make a small purchase, solely to help support the local economy you understand.
