Fontaine des Vignerons de Ribeauvillé (Fountain of the winemakers)

Histoire de la Fontaine du Vigneron.
Au 7ème siècle, il y avait au pied des Vosges, une propriété appelée "Ratbadovilare" ; vilar signifiait "domaine rural" et Ratbald, en alsacien ancien Ratpolt, était le nom du propriétaire. Ratbaldovilar est le berceau de Ribeauvillé.
Suite à l'effondrement de l'empire de Charlemagne surtout au 10ème et 11ème siècle, les nobles commencèrent alors à se construire aux endroits propices des forteresses, d'où ils s'imposèrent comme seigneurs aux villages environnants. Trois châteaux furent érigés au-dessus de Ribeauvillé : St-Ulrich, Girsberg et Haut Ribeaupierre. Vers 1290 le village fut entouré de murailles et devint une ville.
La fontaine du Vigneron est située près de l'emplacement de la Porte Basse, devant l'Office du Tourisme.
Le syndicat viticole l'a agrémentée en 1909, d'une statue d'un vigneron ou "raabmannela", brandissant un bouquet de grappes de raisins, une main posée sur une hotte, en l'honneur de la viticulture locale. La ville, située sur la route des vins d'Alsace. Le fût de la fontaine est décoré du blason de Ribeauvillé.

In the 7th century, there was at the foot of the Vosges, a property called "Ratbadovilare"; Vilar meant "rural estate" and Ratbald, in the old Alsatian Ratpolt, was the name of the owner. Ratbaldovilar is the cradle of Ribeauvillé.
After the collapse of the empire of Charlemagne, especially in the 10th and 11th centuries, the nobles began to build themselves at the propitious places of the fortresses, from where they imposed themselves as lords to the surrounding villages. Three castles were erected above Ribeauvillé: St. Ulrich, Girsberg and Haut Ribeaupierre. By 1290 the village was surrounded by walls and became a town.
The Fountain of the Vigneron is located near the site of the Porte Low, in front of the Office of Tourism.
In 1909, the wine trade union added a statue of a winegrower or "raabmannela", brandishing a bunch of grapes, a hand resting on a hood, in honor of local viticulture. The town, located on the Alsace wine route. The barrel of the fountain is decorated with the coat of arms of Ribeauvillé.
