I took this photo of Max Henderson in the studio. I used two studio lights and had him hold up his phone, as if making a phone call. I thought the commentary of the affect of cell phones on all people in this day in age was interesting and one I was hoping would be on display in this photo.
I barely edited this photo to be honest, I was pretty pleased with the bright white background and then slight shadow on Max's face, I boosted the contrast and that was about all I did for this photo.
How can you add emotion/conceptual depth to a portrait?
I think that this photo does a great job in displaying emotion, now days when someone takes a phone call its pretty serious, their face is emotionless and if someone tries to interact with them, kind of like what this image is showing, they get a dirty look as the person continues their conversation on the phone.
