Class 801 IET

The first electric varient of the Intercity Express Train family manufactured by Hitachi, the Class 801's are exclusively used on the East Coast Main Line. They primarily replaced the Intercity 225 sets and HST's on London - Edinburgh and London - Leeds services. The class also commonly operate the London - York stopping services.

A total of 42 sets were produced.12 of which are 5 coach units (801/1) and the other 30 are 9 coach units (801/2). Two 5 coach units can operate in multiple as a 10 coach train.
