Sound mirror

This is one of the experimental sound mirrors built before WW2, to pick up the sound of approaching hostile aircraft. The idea was overtaken by the increasing speed of aircraft, and of course the perfection of radar. This one is at Capel-le Ferne, Folkestone, on the North Downs Way and Saxon Shore Way.There are others at Denge marshes, and Lympne.
