Hamerkop

One of the quaint oddities in the world of birds, these wonderful creatures construct a nest that has to be seen to be believed. The nest is huge, and commands a large amount of available space in a big tree. When it is complete it looks like a tornado dropped a pile of debris consisting of twigs, leaves, mud- - in fact mostly anything they can find, onto a tree! They will use the same nest for up to four years if undisturbed.
