Arty Core

The core of the Milky Way with Saturn and Mars. This shot is processed with colour balance to taste. This shot is a panorama made up of 4 rows and 5 columns, then trimmed (and rotated). Each panel is a median stack of 4 shots to get rid of shooting stars and satellites. The camera was mounted on a Nodal Ninja rotator to make positioning of the camera quick at night, however I didn't have it quite lined up right which is why there is a slight bow where it should be straight. This is partly because of the Earth's rotation between when I was aligning the rotator and when I actually got the shots. The full size trimmed shot is 9376 x 14518 pixels. This was taken just north of Hawker, South Australia, when the core was nearly directly overhead to try to get away from excess air glow. Stacked and merged in Photoshop, processed in Lightroom. Sigma lens.
