Timeline Investigation

WEEK 3 – Poplar/Kirby Kroger, Set I

(3/3) As for where fresh fare falls in the Kroger décor timeline, you might notice that this period of late 2000s/very early 2010s falls neatly between the script décor of the mid-2000s and the 2012 décor of, ostensibly, 2012. But hopefully you remember our earlier discussions of 2012 décor not actually debuting in its namesake year; and sure enough, reports indicate that the store at 5995 Stage, in Bartlett Towne Center, expanded and remodeled in 2009 – noteworthy because that store indeed has 2012/bountiful décor (and an early version of it, at that), meaning that package likely had its first introduction to the Memphis market at that location.

In short, what I’m trying to say is that, while at first glance its usage in the Memphis market might seem to fit evenly between script and bountiful in the décor lineage, fresh fare as a whole was around earlier than it debuted in Memphis; implemented not exclusively, but concurrently – with script at one end of the spectrum, and bountiful at the other; and was used, as I noted in the previous description, more as a special package reserved only for specific stores rather than as a general décor to be used in any given remodel. Why, it’s possible we could even have seen *more* fresh fare stores pop up locally after the two in 2010, had the 2011 buyout of the Memphis-area Schnucks stores (see link above) not derailed what I’m sure were numerous existing remodel plans.

So now you’re all caught up on fresh fare! Unfortunately, in accomplishing that, I’ve kinda talked over these last two photos, our first ones of the interior of this store. Don’t worry – I’ll tell you all about ‘em, when you come back on Thursday… ;)

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
