Amazing concept, using a discount to drive sales. Who knew?

WEEK 47 – Cordova Super Target Final Day, Set III

I don’t believe this pic was actually taken in that yogurt case we’ve been looking at, but I stuffed it at this point in the series all the same. You may have noticed, amongst the many empty shelves plaguing the refrigerated and freezer units, several groups of affixed paper signs. This pair serves as a sample of all of them; the top one is the more important (and recent) of the two, and reads, “Take an additional 50% off all dairy, frozen, meat, deli, bakery, and produce.” (The bottom one, advertising a lesser 30% off of bakery individually, was, I presume, older and simply never removed. Same with other such signs you may have seen.)

Indeed, while the rest of the store was pretty much business as usual – er, well, *priced* as usual, anyway; the actual amount of stock available was far from that, of course – over here in grocery, because this store was the only Super Target in the region and had nowhere else to transfer its perishable goods, Target did finally cave in and decide to run a discount to clear these items out before the final day. From what we’ve seen so far and will continue to see when our tour continues two weeks from now, I’d say they were pretty successful in that endeavor, haha!

I’m not sure when exactly this clearance sale began, but I would assume a day or two before the final day, again especially given the continued presence/lack of removal of those older, lesser discount signs (advertising sales which themselves also only began after my initial visit in January, it should be noted… Target clearly was discount-hesitant here, lol!)

NEXT WEEK – the confusion continues at Office DepotMax

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
