Decreased Dosage

WEEK 44 – Goodman/Getwell Kroger, Revisited (IV)

Back to the pharmacy/health and beauty discussion now, here’s a straight-on pic looking over towards the pharmacy counter itself, with health and beauty again in the foreground. Be sure to head two clicks back for the rest of this discussion if you missed it.

I mentioned that that intruding wall you see – on your left, this time – was added in back in April 2016, as part of the ClickList installation. I did document the construction earlier in my album – see here, scrolling right – and l_dawg2000 has his own album on the addition as well, viewable here; but neither of our photosets has a really good comparison view of what the area looked like beforehand. So, I dug through l_dawg’s remodel coverage, and found this pic that does the job.

I believe my vantage point for this pic is slightly closer than his, but actually not by much; that’s just how drastic the health and beauty department was reconfigured as a result of ClickList! The best way to show the difference is to have you focus on the skinny, curved poles in both pics. They never moved… which indicates that what very much appears to be more than half of the original health and beauty department floor space was sacrificed for ClickList! That’s quite a big chunk, in my opinion. (Another way of looking at it: those huge air ducts in the ceiling are now all completely hidden behind the new wall.)

They were able to pull it off successfully; the area had enough space to where the remaining aisles could be lengthened, the displaced overhead wood fixture was relocated to stand in line with the other one of the pair, and the pharmacy basket sign itself swapped places with one of the secondary images in order to remain visible given the major sightline changes. The whole thing definitely seems more than a little awkward, and probably wasn’t Kroger’s first choice; but it all worked out, I suppose…

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
