WEEK 29 – Stateline Kroger (I)
(cont.) …but sadly, by the time of my visit the following summer, the cube sign had been unceremoniously removed and replaced :( That cube sign had been on the property ever since the store opened back in 1984, so it was especially disappointing to see it taken down. I’m not sure when it was removed, or why, but there’s a chance it may have been damaged in some storms that year. Either that, or Kroger simply was itching to put up their new, objectively less-cool monument sign that you see here.
If there’s one bonus to this new sign, it’s that it includes all of the plaza’s other tenants, which the previous sign did (and could) not; it also bears the name “Southaven Shopping Center,” which is a little bland, but also funny in that it probably was one of the first, so the name fits XD
The gas station you see here is much newer – added circa 2011, according to this pic by l_dawg2000 – but be sure to note how it fits in nicely on the property, with its understated white canopy.
