Odd/Even

The previous pic looked up the actionway running between GM and grocery; this one looks down the actionway running through grocery proper, on the other side of the aisles. Re: the odd and even numbering; that was started a few years ago, I believe, in order to make the grocery departments seem larger (as making one aisle have two numbers doubles the total aisle count, frivolous or not). Back in the early Project Impact days, the aisles were more sensibly individually numbered. Do other chains do the even/odd thing? I know Kroger doesn’t, but Target does (then again, though, Target’s aisle numbering is like that in all departments).
