Southaven Aldi Remodel Complete
Finally for today, a looooong-overdue pic, showing the completion of the Aldi remodel in Southaven. (Remember when I first posted about that? Way back in March? Yeah, it’s been a while XD ) The store celebrated its grand reopening on June 29th, 2018, and hickmanjack got a few pics which you can see beginning here and scrolling right. My shot here was taken on July 24th, 2018, when crews were right in the middle of installing the new logo on the new monument sign base. (Apparently this couldn’t have been done prior to the grand reopening, haha!)
Unfortunately, I had a feeling Aldi would sacrifice its high-rise road sign so it could display its new logo instead! As I’ve mentioned before, Southaven no longer allows pylon signs, so if you want your new logo displayed, you have to settle for a monument sign. In my mind, ditching a tall sign just for a new logo’s sake is a stupid move, as the tall sign has better visibility (by virtue of its height, of course!). Some Southaven establishments have recognized this (including, if I’m not mistaken, IHOB, which I’ve noticed just recently refreshed its façade)… while others have not, and are subsequently much-maligned – and deservedly so – here on flickr for said poor decision-making.
The Olive Branch Aldi remodeled shortly after this location, and as a whole, Aldi continues to work its way around the greater Memphis area on a remodel spree. I hope to get updated pictures of the OB store eventually, and post those to my blog in an even more distant future period :P
This Saturday’s images comprise our final set from the long-running Barnes Crossing Kroger series, so be sure to stick around for those! Additionally, I hope to have a blog post up later this week as well – but that will all depend on when I’m able to find time between my finals, and studying for said finals. (And the annual Action News 5 Holiday Food Drive on Wednesday, which I always make time for XD ) That said, keep an eye out for all those pics – both here and on the blog – and until then, please enjoy a few more music recommendations!
