Staging Matters

WEEK 6 – Spin Street, Set II

At the rear of the CD department – in the very back left corner of the store – was this setup, dubbed “Spin Street Live!” Sadly, the stage looked quite disused on my visit, blocked off by that equally miserable-looking shelving unit. Concerts were a common theme in this building from the Blockbuster Music days onward, but I’m pretty sure they were carried out in more logical places in the salesfloor than this very back corner where traffic was lower. Indeed, I want to say many of the concerts were held in the center of the store, on top of this emblem in the floor; that way the bands could be seen and enjoyed from most any position inside, and the setup would also be much easier, given that it entailed simply moving a few display units instead of entire aisles.

Bottom line… I’m not quite sure why Spin Street would have set this up back here. But it’s still cool to see, regardless!

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
