Creative Pickup Conversion

WEEK 3 – Oxford Walmart, Post-Remodel (II)

Getting back in line with the natural progression of our stour, for this shot I'm standing within the self-checkout queue, up near the grocery-side (left) entrance into the building. Underneath the angled-out overhang on the far left of the shot, you can see this store's food tenant, Subway. But the main subject of this pic is what's beside the Subway – interestingly enough, a full-blown Pickup area! I can only assume that Pickup was previously located, as with most Walmarts, at the back of the store. Currently, Walmart seems to be undergoing a chainwide initiative to relocate its Pickup areas to the front of its stores, but Oxford appears to have been an early adopter of that philosophy – this photo was taken two years ago, in 2017 (July 31st, to be precise). This Pickup area certainly can't be considered spacious by any stretch of the imagination... in fact, it looks exactly like a converted former grocery item display area (two links there). But despite the small size, you've definitely got to give credit where it is due for the ingenuity here!

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
