1902年 雲石堂建成。

1926年 5 月 27 日，遮打去世，雲石堂及「遮打藏品」（The Chater collection）贈予港府，大樓仍供遺孀居住。

1935年 遺孀去世，大樓用作海軍總司令官邸（Admiralty House）。

1941年 被日軍霸佔

1945年 遭戰火炸毀。

1953年 重建為遮打大廈公務員宿舍，守衛及工人宿舍則被保留。

Marble Hall was built as Sir Paul Chater's residence in 1902. Chater died in 1926 and his wife lived there until her death in 1926. Marble Hall and the Chater Collection there were donated to the Government and became the residence of the Naval Commander-in-Chief of the China Squadron, and was known as "Admiralty House" in 1927. It was damaged by fire in the 1940s. In 1953, Marble Hall was rebuilt into Chater Hall as Government quarters while the guard house was preserved.
