Tobias Hamot Grave

Chatwick Village Graveyard

N3,W56

The saying on the stone always has always made me stop and ponder….

Tobias Hamot was a local publican who legend has it was known for his wit and dry sense of humour..

He died in 1883 at age 84… to stubborn to die is written in a corner of an old photo of Tobias with his irish hound “Turnabout” This pict still hangs in a place of honour above the stone mantel of the old pub.
