cleavage rock

At Sequiota Park, I discovered some rock cleavage during my walk. There was a small crack in the rocks that we had to crouch down to see, and then one formation that we couldn’t miss! Cleavage, according to FlexibleLearning, is defined as the inclination for the mineral in a rock to break and crack along the flat planar outside surfaces of the rock. Cleavage is different than fracturing because when there is cleavage in the rock, it comes out smooth and flat and fractures are more rough looking.
