Jinty with No Hope

In July 1966 ex-LMS class 3F 'Jinty' 0-6-0 tank No.47305 stands forlornly at Troon Harbour, in the company of a Stanier 'Black 5', patiently awaiting the cutter's torch. A Barrow (12C) locomotive during its final year, it was well accustomed to the salt-laden sea air. Withdrawn during February 1965, following a few months storage at Barrow, it was towed to Arnott Young Shipbreakers at Troon in the September of 1965 and did not meet its end until April 1968.
