Nantgarw Dereliction

Nantgarw Coking Plant was situated near Treforest, in the lower reaches of Taff Vale and was connected to the by then-truncated ex-Cardiff Railway line north of the site of Nantgarw Low Level halt. In the early 1970s Some BR surplus Class '11' BR Derby-built 0-6-0 diesel-electrics replaced the Hunslet 'Austerity' locos previously synonymous with Coking Plant. On 28th April 1987, 12071, 12063 and 12061 stand out of use at the closed plant, their reign in use there proving to be just short of a decade.
