Bongo and Bulleid
Following an unscheduled stop at Kirkby Stephen, by the time 'B1' 4-6-0 61306 'Mayflower' and Bulleid 'Merchant Navy 4-6-2 35018 'British India Line' had reached Greengate they were well into their stride and made an impressive sight, despite the unlikely combination, on the 1 in 100 assault towards Birkett tunnel and on towards Ais Gill summit. The 1Z87 14:11 Carlisle to London Euston in the winter wonderland conditions of Saturday 2nd February 2019.
