Experimental Drawing
My ‘Fragility’ project was a big breakthrough for me as it led to me realising that I like working with the body and human emotions/nature.
This was part of a project which had the brief ‘Found, Scavenged, Upcycled.’ As I progressed I was led to looking at experimental drawing and mark making using found objects such as jars and leaves. I also experimented with different surfaces and textures which was the beginning of these images, the idea of using the body as a canvas. For these pictures I used corrugated cardboard and black acrylic paint. These did begin as colour images but after doing some editing in Photoshop I felt they looked better in black and white.
As I have attended university interviews more and more is being seen in these images - submission, scratch marks, feminism - which I feel shows there is much more to be done with these images.
