20181206 Roth 4(F)(2) FDR Memorial 5488
"Franklin Roosevelt in his Wheelchair" by Robert Graham. Bronze. Height: 5' 4”
Note: This sculpture was not part of the original design or a part of the Memorial when it was dedicated in 1997. Advocates for people with disabilities demanded the Memorial acknowledge FDR's paralysis more forcefully than the design that was approved and constructed. In 1997, Congress passed a joint resolution requiring the FDR Memorial to recognize that President Roosevelt used a wheelchair. The Memorial was modified and this statute of Roosevelt in his wheelchair was installed at the Memorial's entrance in 2001.
