Sunrays at Sunrise - Shelly Beach, Caloundra, QLD

One morning while I was on holiday, I got up early with my sister (who lives right near the beach) and went for a walk. My wife and kids were still tucked up and asleep in their warm beds. It was very overcast but we still wandered down to the beach to see what the sunrise would bring. We sat down and had a chat (we hadn't seen each other for a long time) and waited for the sun to rise.

There was very little happening and then all of a sudden the sun burst through a hole in the clouds. This burst of light only lasted for a minute before the sun was back behind the clouds, but while it lasted it was amazing.

One of the things I really enjoy about photography is that it gets me out of the house appreciating the wonders of the natural world around us. This particular moment shared with my sister really made me reflect on the renewal of life - a message that is very relevant when you think a bit on what Easter is about.

Happy Easter to all!
