Moksha

The sadhu looking at the sky and the birds flying behind him are intendeed to represent the liberation ("moksha") after death from the cycle of reincarnations which, as per Hinduism belief, is possible only in a few sacred places such as Varanasi.

A sadhu is a Hindu ascetic or holy person who has chosen to lead a life of renunciation, devotion, and spiritual pursuit. They are often characterized by their distinctive appearance and lifestyle.

They typically wear saffron-colored robes, have long hair and beards, and often carry various spiritual and symbolic items. Sadhus renounce worldly attachments and live a life of austerity, seeking to the moksha through meditation, prayer, and other spiritual practices.

They may also engage in acts of charity and service to the community.

Sadhus are respected in Hindu society for their commitment to a life of spirituality and are often sought out for blessings and guidance.
