We will be Monks

Group of Buddhist novices (Cambodia).

Buddhist novices are are typically young boys or men who have chosen to enter the early stages of monastic life within the Buddhist tradition to learn and practice the teachings of Buddhism.

Not all novices go on to become fully ordained monks, some may choose to return to lay life after their period as a novice.

They undergo a period of training and education in Buddhist principles and monastic discipline, before taking full ordination as a monk.

During this time, individuals live in monasteries or temples, adhering to a set of rules and regulations designed to foster spiritual development and ethical conduct.

Novices study Buddhist scriptures, philosophy, and practice meditation to deepen their understanding of the Dharma (the teachings of the Buddha) and to cultivate qualities such as compassion, mindfulness, and wisdom.

Furthermore, they often assist the monastic community with various tasks, including chores, ceremonies, and community activities.
