Extended Life
In 1975, Nottingham City Transport bought a batch of six 11m Leyland Leopards fitted with Duple Dominant 'E' bodywork, which denoted bus seats within a coach shell. 10 years later, Thomas Bros of Llangadog had purchased former 746 (LAL 746P).
However, possibly noting the extended lives that Davies Bros of Pencader was achieving by having some of its Leopard coaches fitted with new Willowbrook Warrior bus bodies, Thomas Bros followed suit and LAL 746P received the same treatment in 1988. She therefore went from having a coach body fitted with bus seats to having a bus body with semi-coach seats though her capacity reduced from 53 to 47.
She became a regular performer on Service 280 (Llandovery-Llangadog-Llandeilo-Nantgaredig-Carmarthen) until the then Dyfed County Council contract was lost to SWT in 1990.
This scan of a slide taken in 1989 shows her picking up for Llandovery opposite the company's second depot in Rhosmaen Street, Llandeilo.
